OMG! You all! Can we talk about Penned Con for a minute? This was my first year attending the event, and all I can say is WOW! What an amazing event. I had so much fun that by the time I got home, my voice was completely gone. In fact, I still squeak when I try to talk. From the moment I checked in, I met a ton of new readers and authors whom I can now call friends. The two day signing was filled with amazing keynote speakers, lunches, dinners, and parties. I swear to all that is holy, I'm still tired! For those of you who stopped by to see me, please know how grateful I am! I love meeting new readers and connecting with them on a personal level. One of the things I love most about this event is that all proceeds go to Action for Autism! We raised over $14,000 this year! My table is booked for next year and I hope to see you there!

I've been blessed to meet so many wonderful and talented women and men in the author world. They are rays of sunshine! Sitting behind a computer day after day gets incredibly lonely at times, so it's nice to hop online, chit chat for a bit then get back to work. It's been a dream to meet many of the authors that I've worked with over the years, but I haven't traveled much in the last few years because of my daughter's health. I promised this year would be the year! I'm starting off with baby steps! First up a trip to Hilton Head Island to hook up with my Crazy Lady Sisters for an amazing author retreat! I am looking forward to hugging each of these wonderful women! They've been there through the ups and downs. And even though we are separated by hundreds of miles, it doesn't stop us from being close and sharing our lives with one another. After Hilton Head, I get to meet up with my amazing narrator Hollie Jackson and her wonderful hubby, Dragon. I can't wait! I'm packing up the family and we are headed to Chicago for a day of exploring! Pizza from Giordano's will be involved! We're going to check out the Field Museum, which happens to be one of my absolute favorite museums to visit. I checked out their website today to find out if there were any super cool exhibits going on over the summer. I literally squeeeed when I saw they have the First Chinese Emperor and his Terracotta Army. It's going to be cool as hell to see in person! I've been to the Field Museum several times over the years, my hubby and I were regulars when we lived in the area. Some of my favorite that I've seen there are Cleopatra and Kremlin Gold. I also really love the Ancient Egypt section. Matthew is super psyched to go see all the mummies and Sue the largest and most intact T-Rex ever found! It's gonna be fun! I have a small turkey to throw in the Nesco tomorrow and a small ham for in the oven. Topped off with mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, veggies, and rolls. I've also made Dutch apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a pecan pie. What's on your Thanksgiving menu? Whatever it is may your day be filled with family, friends, and food! Be safe and have a great day! But's that's not been the case here in Northeast Wisconsin where old man winter often refuses to give up his grip on the area. I'm happy to report we've been hitting the mid 50's all week with warmer weather expected soon. That seriously makes me happy, cuz I have the worst case of freaking cabin fever going on (so does the rest of my family). I'm ready for summer fun, picnics, barbecues, camping and my flower and veggie gardens. I'm thinking I may need to find a warmer climate soon or invest in a huge greenhouse. There's nothing more relaxing than heading out for the week with the family, disconnecting from the internet and chilling out next to the evening fire with a good book.
